New Kittens & Random Stuff

I haven't posted a ton lately, life has been extremely busy.  Work, working out, cooking, and Marina's school keep us extremely busy.  Couple that with taking a bunch of trips to the Boston area, leaves me with little time to blog.  So for this post, I decided to pull some shots out of my iPhone and post them.  

I was in Boston last weekend at my parents, and they recently acquired two new cats.  Otis Redding and Marvin Gaye are the names of the two brothers.  They are so cute and frisky.  Very friendly cats, I totally am smitten by them.

Marina and I checked out a local sushi restaurant.  Osaka Japan Northampton.  Prices are quite fair and I had the sashimi lunch special with a buddha roll, we will be back.

Tonight, I picked up a bottle of Pretty Things Fluffy White Rabbits.  A hoppy tripel that clocks in at 8.5% ABV.  I really like this beer, it has a great creamy mouthfeel and a hoppy finish.  Very unique.  #1 seed Indiana currently losing dramatically to Syracuse. 

Heavy Tweed Jacket's Magnum Opus on Striped Shirts

Heavy Tweed Jacket is one of my favorite blogs, he focuses on Trad - Classic Traditional American clothing, but curiously is a resident of Japan.  I suppose that is not all that curious, considering how many great trad pieces that I list on eBay end up being shipped to Japan!

Recently he posted an incredible article on the various striped shirts that are available.  I have to admit, this helped clarify the difference between some terms such as "pinstripe" "candy stripe" and "university stripe" although if there is one thing that this article taught me it is that we need not follow a prescription with labeling the type of stripes on these shirts.

Heavy Tweed Jacket - Available for limited time

Heavy Tweed Jacket is a one man blog who employs a unique strategy of posting fairly regularly for a month or two, then going dark for 6 months, leaving no trace of the traddy menswear blog.  His archive of trad catelogs (and Grateful Dead mixtapes) is quite impressive, and I am sure he will send the Vintage Brooks Brothers ebay market up more than a couple basis points!

Supreme Japan Charity Tee

Supreme will be releasing this benefit t-shirt in an effort to support the earthquake and tsunami victims of Japan. This will be available next week in store and online. I will definitely pick one up in XL, I really hope this is not too limited and resellers make a profit off the terrible situation in Japan. Please consider buying directly from Supreme, and donating directly to Japan if you want to spend more than the $50 I expect Supreme to charge.

South Willard "Functionality and Quality"

South Willard is designed with the utmost simplicity in mind.

The line is heavily inspired by growing up California, and the subtle changes in the landscape through the seasons that are noticed by the discerning eye.

We set out to make something that didn’t really pertain to any one kind of person, and hope that people from all walks of life can use our products.

Functionality and Quality are very important to us.

Our jackets are made by Crescent Down Works in Seattle, denim in Okayama Japan, and shoes by Quoddy Trail in Maine. All with meticulous attention to detail.

Somehow we wanted to make these clothes modern but with a light hand.

We believe the best clothes have a subtlety involved that truly is the hardest thing to achieve in design.

We try to always follow this design philosophy.
